O For a Heart to Praise My God

1. O for a heart to praise my God,
A heart from sin set free,
A heart that always feels
Thy blood So freely shed for me.

2. A heart resigned, submissive, meek,
My great Redeemer’s throne,
Where only Christ is heard to speak,
Where Jesus reigns alone.

3. A humble, lowly, contrite, heart,
Believing, true and clean,
Which neither life nor death can part
From Christ who dwells within.

4. A heart in every thought renewed
And full of love divine,
Perfect and right and pure and good,
A copy, Lord, of Thine.

5. Thy nature, gracious Lord, impart;
Come quickly from above;
Write Thy new name upon my heart,
Thy new, best name of Love.

A Christian’s Daily Prayer

1. As morning dawns and day awakes,
To you I bring my need.
O gracious God, my source of strength,
In you I live and breathe.
Each hour is yours by Wisdom planned,
Each deed empower’d by sovereign hands;
Renew my spirit, help me stand –
Be glorified today.

2. As day unfolds I seek your will
In all of life’s demands;
And though the tempter tries me still,
I cling to your commands.
Let every effort of my life
Display the matchless worth of Christ;
Make me a living sacrifice –
Be glorified today.

3. As sun gives way to darkest night,
Your Spirit still is here;
And though my strength fades like the light,
New mercies will appear.
I rest in you, abide with me
Until our trials and suffering
Give way to final victory
Be glorified today.

Why Do the Nations Rebel and Rage (Psalm 2)

1. Why do the nations rebel and rage,
Why do the people strive in vain
Against the Lord of earth and heav’n
To overthrow Messiah’s reign?

2, Their strength is weakness in the sight
of him who sits enthroned above;
he speaks, and judgments fall on them
who tempt his wrath and scorn his love.

3. By God’s decree his Son receives
all nations for his heritage;
the conqu’ring Christ supreme shall reign
as King of kings, from age to age.

4. Be wise, you rulers of the earth,
and serve the Lord with godly fear;
with rev’rent joy confess the Son
while in his mercy he is near.

5. Do not delay, lest his anger rise,
and you should perish in your ways;
For all who put their trust in him
are blest indeed, and blest always.

America, the Beautiful

1. O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

2. O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare of freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!

3. O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!

4. O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
