Arise O God! (Psalm 74)

Arise O God! (Psalm 74)

Come, Christians, Join to Sing

1. Come, Christians, join to sing
Alleluia! Amen!
Loud praise to Christ our King;
Alleluia! Amen!
Let all, with heart and voice,
Before his throne rejoice;
Praise is his gracious choice.
Alleluia! Amen!

2. Come, lift your hearts on high,
Alleluia! Amen!
Let praises fill the sky;
Alleluia! Amen!
He is our Guide and Friend;
To us he’ll condescend;
His love shall never end.
Alleluia! Amen!

3. Praise yet our Christ again,
Alleluia! Amen!
Life shall not end the strain;
Alleluia! Amen!
On heaven’s blissful shore,
His goodness we’ll adore,
Singing forevermore,
Alleluia! Amen!

Ancient of Days

1. Though the nations rage, kingdoms rise and fall,
there is still one King reigning over all.
So I will not fear for this truth remains:
that my God is the Ancient of Days.

Refrain:
None above him, none before him, all of time in his hands;
for his throne it shall remain and ever stand.
All the power, all the glory, I will trust in his name,
for my God is the Ancient of Days.

2. Though the dread of night overwhelms my soul,
he is still with me; I am not alone.
O his love is sure, and he knows my name,
for my God is the Ancient of Days.
(Refrain)

3. Though I may not see what the future brings,
I will watch and wait for the Savior King.
Then, my joy complete, standing face to face
In the presence of the Ancient of Days.
(Refrain)

Will You Cast Us Off Forever? (Psalm 74)

1. Will you cast us off forever,
We the people of your fold?
Will we wander without guidance
In the darkness and the cold?
Lord, recall your ancient promise
To increase us in the land;
Now restore these ruined temples
By the power of your hand.

2. Lord, your foes have brought destruction
And profaned you to your face;
They have sought to raise their banners
And defile your holy place.
There is silence from the prophets,
And no answer to our cries;
Move your hand to bring us rescue
From the scoffer’s evil lies.

3. Yet our God is king forever,
His salvation is at hand;
He will raise the poor and needy
And empower them to stand.
Now arise, O God; defend us
For the honor of your name;
Lord, remember their defiance,
Bring the arrogant to shame.
He Will Hold Me Fast

1. When I fear my faith will fail,
Christ will hold me fast.
When the tempter would prevail,
he will hold me fast.
I could never keep my hold
through life’s fearful path,
for my love is often cold;
he must hold me fast.

Refrain:
He will hold me fast, he will hold me fast,
for my Savior loves me so –
he will hold me fast.

2. Those he saves are his delight;
Christ will hold me fast.
Precious in his holy sight,
he will hold me fast.
He’ll not let my soul be lost,
his promises shall last;
bought by him at such a cost –
he will hold me fast.
(Refrain)

3. For my life he bled and died;
Christ will hold me fast.
Justice has been satisfied,
he will hold me fast.
Raised with him to endless life,
he will hold me fast;
till our faith is turned to sight
when he comes at last.
(Refrain)
